邯郸一中为60年名校，因发展需要，于邯郸市南部新征用地 510亩，建设高中新校区，设计规模为120班，学生7200人，建筑面积26万平方米,为超大型现代化中学。

设计理念：共享与交流：面向新世纪的人群的学校，更需要多些交往及交流的空间，在校园里多创造一些人们曾经“相遇”的场所，同时突出资源的共享及利用。

生态与健康：生态化的校园，健康绿色的理念,一个充满运动精神及健康形象的新型学校。

高效与秩序：在创造高效人流组织的同时，做到秩序井然，条理清楚，达到最佳“教与学”的效率。

文脉与超越：“青出于蓝，冰寒于水”,“锲而不舍，金石可镂”这些伟大的成语皆出自邯郸，把人文精神及历史文脉贯之于校园，创造有别于其它地区学校的文化特质；同时一个面向未来的学校，在形式上也应与时俱进，实现超越。

Communion and exchange: a school facing the new century needs more communion and exchange. More locations should be created for people to get together with each other. At the same time, the sharing and utilization of resources should be highlighted.

Ecology and health: an ecological campus, a healthy idea, a new fashioned school with athletic spirit and healthy image.
Efficiency and order: when creating an efficient stream of people, orderliness should be achieved to achieve best efficiency of teaching and learning.

Culture and preeminence: Famous idioms like Blue is extracted from the indigo plant but is bluer than the latter (The worthy disciple excels his asters.) and Patience wears out stones originated from Han Dan. The humanities and history are incorporated in the campus to create cultural features different from schools in other areas. Also, a school facing the future should keep up to date in its form and achieve preeminence.
